I've been calling and bugging both HKS and dealers for more pics or info on this exhaust, but HKS couldn't get me anything aside from the tip style. I would have had it if I could have found the slightest bit of info on it.

I'm no engineer so forgive me if I have a quasi-retarded understanding of how that protuberance works:
I'm gonna guess that chamber has been tuned to alter or dampen resonance at idle and light throttle but without creating the same sort of restriction as a 2nd inline muffler at WOT where fast moving exhaust gases would almost completely bypass that lil sidedoor. I'm guessing this allows it to be relatively quiet at light throttle but loud as hell at WOT.
