Any issues with the thicker Majesty core with clearance regarding the GTI bumper? The accessories look to be the same between the Majesty and the G-Plus only the cores look different.
The hoses for the larger Majesty apparently are too large in diameter for the stock IC hook up; the G-Plus hoses apparently fit.

For their asking price, why not consider their direct fit models? The price is pretty comparable. There has been reports of those bi-cooler hoses failing and the asking price for replacement hoses are close to the price of the entire I/C kit.

I will say, from a glance, the space available for the Alltrack looks like it could accommodate a much thicker core vs the gti.
(I’d have to take measurements to confirm)

Not sure if that's sarcastic (always hard to tell on the internet), but the Majesty one is 9cm thick? The G-Plus has a lower volume (6.85L) than the stock intercooler (8.08L), whereas the Majesty one is larger (10.6L). That's not the end-all measure since it works in conjuction with the stock IC, not replacing it like a true FMIC, but if the time and money is being spent, might as well get the larger one. And for all I know, the Amazon G-Plus listing could just have the outdated dimensions listed, I know some of the eBay ones do.

haha, for some reason, the 60mm is what my brain processed for the majesty‘s thickness.

Vs. the direct fit models, I'd imagine 95% is ease of install, and 5% is FMIC's look cool. Taking the front end apart enough to get to the stock intercooler is a pretty daunting task for your average DIYer. A FMIC\Twintercooler is a much easier install to stomach.

I asked some local guys on a FB group and one of them told me he used the stock IC piping as a coupler. I'm assuing that he cut the stock hoses. Another person chimed in and said that the G-Plus was a bit big and they tried to use a coupler...but the clamps that were included are too short. So they just clamped it down. So far his hose didn't burst. Sooo the guy that installed his also has a G-Plus...and he said that his hoses fit just fine.

It looks like its hit or miss when it comes to fitting of the hose onto the stock intercooler. If you plan on getting either the Majesty or G-Plus...it might be a good idea to have the couplers and larger clamps on hand so at least you'll be prepared in case you need them.

In discussions about the stock location Majesty there has been concerns raised about the thickness of the core potentially causing problems in other areas, hoses being pushed back or something. Most of the name brand cores seem to top out around 2.25" in this table, makes me wonder if there might have been reason most vendors stopped there.

This is the difference between actual R&D and being a Chinese copycat. Price, quality, service...pick 2 b/c you don't get all 3 when you go lowest price. Not to say they don't work well, but something has to give.

Hey guys, I just dug through the entire thread. Just wanted to confirm, this is the only source we have for logging, correct? In 30 pages, I was only able to find logs from 5 users. This thread could really use more data. Logs + your application would go a long way. Tracking, mountain driving, interstate pulls? What are you guys doing with your cars?

Not trying to bash anyone, but I don't see any long-term data in the thread. I'm a big fan of slap it on and record some pulls... but how has your eBay FMIC held up? Maybe we should do 6 - 12 month checkins on this thing.

And with easier install, also comes easier removal when trading the car in (if you're going to another similar car that can use it, or trying to sell it to the forum).

100% - it's really all about ambient to intake temp delta (to me) w/r to IC performance and would be great to see more stock data vs. twintercooler data.

One of the guys I chatted with on FB said that on a 90+ degree day and he was sitting at 115 at idle. Once he got in the freeway...he said he saw temps dip to 85.

It's clear also that many don't understand what an upgraded IC is for - to lower/maintain intake temps during WOT pulls/hard driving or repeated WOT pulls/track-type driving where you are hammering it/in boost for long periods. For the logs above, you can clearly see in the stock configuration that IATs climb over the pull vs. with the upgraded IC where they maintain or only climb at a v. low rate. Driving/cruising on the highway, while you certainly see lower overall intake temps with a larger IC/twin setup, it's not really the big reason to do this upgrade.

How in the world are you getting below ambient IATs? hahaha
