Well, i had been dealing with some lost in boost/power the past few weeks, and after checking all connections and having successful logs, i finally threw a check engine light. it was a P00299 code: Boost Pressure Regulation; Control Range not reached.

This is what i was waiting for before taking it to the dealer so they didnt keep the car and couldnt replicate it. Before i took it in however i took the catch can off and the downpipe.. left the intake and s3 cooler on, put it in stock mode, locked out ecu, and took it in.

Well they called be back hours later and said something about the pin on the wastegate failed or something, and the wastgate couldnt actuate properly. Well i asked if they could just replace the WG, but he said when something like this fails on the turbo they replace the damn thing.

Fine very well, he said warranty would cover it despite my mods. lol i told him the IC was oem though, and he was actually shocked, not to mention i was shocked they even noticed it, but good on them. they didnt say anything about my noise pipe delete either, more or less because they probably didnt notice it, haha.

Anyway, they told me two days yesterday it would be done, called me today said they had to order the turbo from germany, so now im out 10-14 days...LAME. Im bout to go pick up a rental though since i dont feel like riding my bike around everywhere, espescially with these colder mornings we been experiencing as of late. I didnt know warranty covers rentals, that was news to me, but :w00t:

anyway, i am APR stg 2 with obviously a dp and the aforementioned intake and s3 ic. They didnt really care about the intake or ic mainly because it would tough to prove either could have caused this.

How many miles on your original turbo? Glad to see your dealership is working it out despite your car being modded.

Title is kind of misleading.
So the WASTEGATE was actually faulty, not the turbo itself?
On the TSI the wg is rivited on to the turbo so it cant be replaced.
If VW hadnt of done this then they could hav ejust swapped in a new wg

yea so it is a bit misleading, oh well I got you to read it,

BTW there was 22k on the turbo... also, i think the rivets were a bad idea, clearly, lol

You know there was a vw tech mentioning bad turbos on the med17 platform on here or vortex. Wonder if this was what he was referencing.

My buddy has an fsi that gets a p0299 turbo underboost code since his s3 fmic was installed on apr stage 2. This thread makes me think his problems may be WG related but not PCV. I know your tsi which means ihi instead of k03 but the code and symptom are the same. Good to hear your shit is fixed.

You should buy a K04 kit and have the dealer install it for you since they're doing a turbo install anyways...

IHI is a k03. The fsi k03 code is kk3 or something.

You should just tell them to replace it with a "factory" K04 and that you'll pay the difference

i tried to get them to put on a factory k04, i got shit on, LOL

the rivets were a bad idea because the forge wg, thanks dybz for puttin that out there, cuz thats a big deal.

IHI is smaller then the k03 thats on the FSI.

i have had the s3 IC for like 10months now, this came out of no where almost....i cant contribute this to this problem...i started a thread on this about two weeks ago...i didnt throw a code until after two weeks the symptoms started, maybe even 3 weeks.

im glad its all getting fixed though under warranty, not happy about time frame lol, but can be too picky or upset if its free ya dig..
