doesn't the MKVI GTI loose independent rear suspension too, thought the A6 chasis was supposed to be a step backward from the A5 due to crappy economic conditions

I would be willing to take an 09' GTI over waiting for a 10' MK6. Mainly because VW will warranty an APR Stage One tune and other upgrades.

Come on APR help us out here!!

http://www.goapr.com/VW/news/gti-v50.html

You know that "Stage 1 ECU tune" and "Performance Exhaust" and that "Carbon Fiber Intake" aren't APR products...they're volkswagen's. They don't put APR exhausts and APR chips in there, VW uses their own.

APR is probably linking this saying "You can tune your golf to be like a V50 by using our products."

VW won't allow you to keep your warranty with APR chips, mainly because theres a real concern towards the engine -.- It's not just a policy thing...

This is slightly incorrect. The tune is from APR, exhaust is from VW, and the brakes are from R32.

The V50 isn't all show and no go, either. An APR Stage I ECU upgrade is covered by the car's warranty and boosts output by 36 horsepower and 74 pound-feet of torque. A VW performance exhaust is also used. VW says this upgrade shaves more than a second off of the 0-60 time, bringing it to 5.6 seconds. To keep things safe at any speed, the GTI V50 borrows its braking system from the R32.

All according to this article:

The question now is, did they reinforce any internals or are all parts simply the same as the stock GTI. It would also be awesome if VW North America allows us to upgrade our cars to the V50 while keeping warranty. They could give you a discount for buying your existing parts: brakes, exhaust, rims etc.. depending on condition. I'd be down for that except the paint job :p

VW has started a special program in the Asian market, releasing the V50 GTI with Tuning, Exhaust, and Intake all from, as you have all guessed, yours truly! They still get the FSI so it was prefect to launch our tried and true software and hardware packages on a motor with which we have worked on for years. The car's are pretty damn slick. Not only are they running our software/hardware upgrades, they are also running a bunch of parts form the R32, and basically all the OEM+ goodies we all want. To have this all bolted on, right from the factory, with a warranty is awesome if you ask me. No need to worry about fitments on any interior modifications since it all came directly from the plant, installed. That's a huge plus in my book.

At any rate, keep your eyes open for more VW tuning. This seems like it could be a huge success in the US market. ;)

"The GTI suspension with a new electronic limited-slip diff (XDS) defines curves and traction in a completely new way. A GTI with a top speed of 240 km/h that with its 155 kW / 210 bhp strong turbocharged engine is even more fun and, on average, only uses 7.5 litres.

The sixth generation Golf GTI will go into series production in the spring of 2009 – as usual with a unique connection between sporty suspension and agile engine. The engine develops already at 1,800 rpm a maximum torque of 280 newton metres. The sprint from 0 to 60mph is achieved in 6.9 seconds. A stand-off between wind resistance and output occurs only just at 240 km/hr."

"Under the hood, the new GTI gets the latest edition of the corporate 2.0L TFSI four cylinder cranking out 210 hp and a reasonably healthy 207 lb-ft of torque at just 1,800 rpm. "
