I've had the Maniacs paddles for over a year now. I bought them from ECS Tuning for about $140. They're decent quality, but that's it: decent. As for people who are concerned they only "stick on," they're on there pretty well and they seem more like a unit in connection with the OEM paddles rather than a stick on. My personal trouble with them is that they FEEL a bit cheap (being plastic). The inside portion feels high quality (feels very much like the OEM paddle).
That being said, $40 is a great deal for them. I was willing to pay $140, but that's only because extended paddles were high on my list of mods "to do." I understand if others do not have the same feeling: one may subjectively think "why pay $140 for some "POS" plastic piece?"
All in all, I would say $140 is over paying slightly, but $40 is a steal.
