Camshaft and follower

These photos are of my inlet camshaft. The cylinder head came put of storage and the lobe had slight rust on it.

I used a rag with wd40 to clean it up but its not perfect.

If I use it as is with a new follower with decent synthetic oil will it last or is it dead and should be replaced immediately?

Money always an issue with the project Im busy with so if I dont have to lay out cash that would be preferable.

Thanks

That's honestly questionable in my book. Did you have a CF failure on that shaft? Looks like more than just a little rust that was removed. Do you know what revision camshaft that is?
No idea what the previous owner did to it so it might have been a failure

Id hit it with some 0000 steel wool and run it. It doesnt look too bad.
Thanks.....will have a go at it and see if it cleans up good enough. I suppose with proper oil it might be fine anyways and I can maybe just check the folllower after 20k kms
