Got my HKS Legal Exhaust! (*Updated w/clips*)
just got my HKS legal exhaust at my door step. the build quality is amazing. The capped "tube" is called a "branch resonator", many other exhaust company use that technique to get rid of drones. can't wait to have this installed in about a week. got this for 600 shipped from Option Auto Salon. Pipe ID is 2.75 inch, with 80mm single walled tips.
**update with Post install sound/pics/opinion**
other mods i got: Eurosport intake. (stock downpipe)
installation difficulty:
had a shop get the job done, talked to the mechanics, he was impressed with the quality, says no hanger needs to be adjusted at all.
reason why i want to get rid of stock system with resonator removed:
1. the DSG fart is too loud and not refined.
2. deccelerating drone whenever i down shift before a sharp corner.
3. drone going up hill at 5 or 6th gear 1/4 throttle.
HKS exhaust sound opinion:
1. DSG fart is much more refined, still pretty loud, but a much crisp, clean sound. the "puu laaa" right when it's about to shift is not as audible.
2. no more deccelerating drone! sounds much better with a nice engine breaking sound.
3. still got some drone up hill in high gears, but this doesn't bother me at all, becuase i remember a fully STOCK system got minor drone in similiar situation too. all the annoying drone that came with res delete are gone.
4.sound is more uniformed through out RPM, not as "all over place" like the res delete.
5. quieter when just cruising on highway, sounds almost stock, noise don't come out until you punch it, not raspy at all. the video also make it sound alot more "bassy".
6. I have not heard any other exhaust for GTI, so i can't comment on how it compare to other systems.
