Will disconnecting speedometer cause faults

Anyone ?? Surely some one has disconnected the speedo before ?

disconnect the battery first then go for it

It will run, but you will have faults

Can confirm that the car will run but faults will occur. Problem is that the cluster is nowhere near air tight so drying it off inside is not permanent.

Also how do u remove the speedo needles ? I have looked this up and found results say just pull on it and wiggle. But this was on a standard mk5 not a Gti think it may be different as these are not moving atol

Hmmm I was really pulling on them and harder and I'm scared they'll break.

Anyway I had to use the car so I put it back together and re connected the battery and iv got an airbag warning plus and amber steering wheel warning light.
