When looking at the VMR site, specifically the VMR 710's..
http://www.velocitymotoring.com/wheels_v710.html

- I understand that our wheel pattern is 5 x 112.
- Offset 35/45 - I'm given a choice here?
- Centerbore - 57.1 / 66.6 - Another choice? WTF is Centerbore?

45 offset and 57.1 centerbore which is the size of the big hole in the middle of the wheel. :) you can also use a wheel with a larger hole but you will need hub rings then that transition from whatever size your wheel has down to your hub size. mkv is 57.1.

it won't stretch to much since it has a bit of height to it.. the only thing with getting a different tire is that you are slighly chaning the diameter

Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
Stock
225/45-17 4.0in 12.5in 25.0in 78.5in 808 0.0%
18's
235/40-18 3.7in 12.7in 25.4in 79.8in 794 1.7%
225/40-18 3.5in 12.5in 25.1in 78.8in 804 0.5%
215/40-18 3.4in 12.4in 24.8in 77.8in 814 -0.8%

you will get a slight different read out in speed. but if you want to go with a tire that wil be rather flush i think 235/40-18 would be the one to go with

also check out the prices

So, what you're saying is that if you were to go with 225's on a 8.5 over a 235 you could "increase" your wheel gap?
