Sunroof opening by itself

I have an 07 mkv that I picked up used about 4 months ago. Lately the sunroof seems to want to open without any input from me. It doesn't open fully, it just does the ol' tilt open in the back. Happens virtually every day. I have to give the switch a quick turn and back to close it up. Do I have some kind of short in the wiring and would this be covered under my pre-loved warranty? Happen to anyone else on here?

just check the connections of the sunroof. and vagcom it for errors

mine started doing this about 2 months ago but it only does it maybe once a week or less. Next time its in the dealer for something warranty i'll see if its a common thing.

I know someone this happened too...it is the sunroof switch. It will need to be replaced and all will be good.

my mothers b6 Passat does this. Its gotta be the switch. we gotta take hers in since she finds it very annoying. she says she loves the car but hates the electronics with a passion. Aside from this, her seat randomly moves to another set memory option while driving. we'll be taking it in soon

:thumbup:Heh, that's probably hidden function vw been testing : Propane/methane sensors inside of seats....once u let some gases go....car goes to "fresh air" mode and open sunroof.hahaha. I want that perk so bad

Keeps happening to me too... Either I have a ghost rider with me or the switch must be bad. I took it to the dealer and got the typical response, "it dosent do it for us so we cant do anything until we see it happen" Now that my warranty is up i am almost certian it will take a dump soon enough.... just glad it hasnt done it while its pissing down rain!

Hey Guys, this is a wiring harness in the door that needs to be replaced, take it to V-Dub they will hook it up!

wow i thought i was alone on this! lol. Mine just constantly tilts half open every time i drive. And it does it literally every two second, it'll open close, open close a bunch of times. Then i gotta open it all the way and close it, and SOMETIMES it'll stop. its sooooo annoying.

Opened on it's own.....and I wasn't there!

I have a 2008 MkV Golf Estate. My wife and I went to the supermarket two days ago, and came back to find our sunroof open! The car had been locked - ignition clearly off. The car wouldn't respond to the switch, and is currently at my local dealership as it was about to rain. The dealer told me they'd never heard of this happening before. Anyone else had this manifestation of the sunroof problem?
