A wrx old evolution neon srt4 old mustang a beat up Dodge laser w a Turbo boosted 30psi an old $2000 98 Camero Z28 will destroy a gti stage whatever in a straight line. Anyone who buys a GTI for it's straightline speed is retarded. You buy a gti for a balanced package of economy and spirited driving experience. The gti beats the r in the former. The r wins the later. End of discussion.

^ Are you trolling or just uninformed? Going by time slips, and not just a lot of fanboy chest thumping, you will see that there are plenty of modded GTI's that can beat some of the cars that you list, just like there are plenty of modded clapped out 98 Camaros (Cameros, lol) that can beat up on stock or lightly modded GTIs. It all comes down to the mods on those cars. Yes, the FWDLOL aspect of the GTI blows, but it certainly has a lot of mod potential. Forget generalizations and just go by the numbers: a 12.8 second modded GTI is just as fast as a 12.8 second Mustang. A car is only as fast or as slow as its timeslip says it is, and all the cars you've listed have the potential to run hard as hell, or be dog slow.

Incidentally, my GTI and most forum members' GTIs will crush a shitbag $2000 Camaro anywhere except from a dig.

First night at track 15.7 no launch. Next 15.1 fumbled launch. Next 14.7 better launch .44 react. Figure a few more tenths achievable with more practice

What was your 60ft time and your trap speed on your best run? 14.7 sounds pretty reasonable.

It's not that far fetched. I ran a heavier stock Chevy Beretta gtz with the quad 4, 15.0 flat.
The 1.8t is no slouch.
