Oil filter crossthreaded and leaking

I did my oil change two weeks ago and i crossthreaded oilfilter.
There is a minor leak/drip.

This could be a dumb question but would all the oil come out if i take the filter out without draining the oil first?
What should i do?

:lol: good job on a simple diy job. youll lose the oil in the filter housing. might even be able to drain the housing and then pour it back in when youre done and then check your oil level and see how much you need to add.

im debating on paying someone to do my change next time cause my car sits to low now and i have to pull up on a stair of little flat blocks to get my jack under it.

Yeah you only lose the 1/2 quart that sits in the filter. The rest will stay in the pan.
