noisy bumpstops

i just had some bumpstop spacers put on my rear shocks (by tony in the sfv for the locals) and now i'm getting a super annoying squeak sound any time the shock compresses, even over the smallest road imperfections. i heard the 8th gen civics had this problem too and there was a recall.

anyone know if new bumpstops will fix the issue? or some type of grease?

or get rid of the spacers completely and risk crunching my fenders again? :frown:

I assume any mechanical grease, white lithium works for most everything. I'm honestly not sure if it will help or not.

Can you actually hear the noise inside the car?

yeah the noise is pretty loud.

brand of the spacers? not sure, they're sourced from some guy in germany who makes them. bumpstops aren't cut and i'm lowered on fks.

i'll try grease though, hopefully that'll get rid of it.

From what you're describing, the squeaking noise is the bump stop compressing....no real way to stop it unless you cut it shorter or acquire some shorter/stiffer ones.

I knew a guy that said he sprayed white lithium grease on it repeatedly to get it to stop, but it's still gonna happen again eventually

Remove the bump stop spacers and raise your car.

Bump stops should never be touched at normal driving.

No wheel travel - no suspension work. Period.
