MY06 GTI with surging idle at start up

have noticed lately that my sisters 06 GTI has been sounding rough on start up. it seems like the engine is struggling to find idle after the first turn over. it only lasts a few seconds but its quite an evident spluttering sound. i filmed both the exhaust and engine just to give you guys an idea of what it sounds like and its duration. i have taken her car to my local VW dealer and they couldnt find anything wrong... then again i dont hold my dealer in high regard

Does the RPM correspond to the surging? Since its on 06, have you taken a look at the cam follower?

yeh the RPM does surge too.

surely if it was the cam follower it would also affect the engine when driving?

once the engine starts up it surges for about 5 seconds and then after that it runs perfectly :iono:
