I think you're going to need to completely rebuild the head. How many miles? And was it the original belt?

Pull the entire head. You have valves and a camshaft to replace, at the least. And you need to check the pistons.

How's the chain? You may not be able to save the head.

IM gonna pull the head apart and see the extent of the damage when I get a chance. Too much wedding stuff going on. Wish I could put it on hold to fix my car..lol. But here's what I have for now till I fix my car

between work and my wedding i didnt have time to fully, tear it down, its currently at the shop being repaired for 1300. hes going to let me know what happened though.

update: shop found 4 bent valves at least and a possibly cracked cylinder head

( best bet is probably sourcing a used cyl head. or if you wanna go with a rebuild do a full valve job and the ti retainer kit for high rev funs. :thumbsup:

Did they find out why the cam seized?

$1,300 sounds very reasonable if you don't need a new head. Make sure they replace any injector seals as needed.

What's the chance that the new Golf R top end with the redesigned cam system and cam follower along with bolstered internals would mate with the rest of the MKV FSI engine?

that's a good question. On the other hand this is the most expensive valve cleaning I've ever seen
