My friend's cc had similar symptoms when he had a bad coil pack. The car would buck at medium throttle but he could still drive it lightly.

It's not good to drive a car while it's misfiring so I'd replace all 4 coils (even if it's just 1 bad one, so they'll all fire equally) ASAP.

Get the red ones for a Tiguan or Jetta hybrid at your dealership to save time. Those are the upgraded R8-spec ones that have a slightly stronger spark than your GTI ones.

Thanks for info.

Scary. Glad you got home okay. The shaking makes me believe it's not coils but more like engine issue.

Thanks. Glad i got home. Dead cell and otw the way home from the casino. Couldnt stop it you know what i mean.

Dead hookers in the trunk again? Definitely not the time to stop and ask for assistance.

i remember when my coil went bad. I couldn't go faster than 25 mph.

From what I understand, there are varying degrees of coil pack failure, with some gradually weakening, and others dramatically shitting the bed.

Almost sounds like your car went into limp mode with the bad coil.

When my coils went back in 2008 or something like that, the power loss was definitely there, but I could still go over 25.

OP, do you smell raw gas through the exhaust?

Just got home and had a chance to start the car. Idles fine. When you give it gas parked its blowing white smoke. Oil is full. Checked for obvious leaks and didnt see or hear anything. Took around my block and isnt making power.

Did you check the oil? Does it have water/antifreeze in it?

Do you have a CEL?

I had similar issues when I first bought my car. It ended up being my noise pipe that was loose and I think it was missing one of the gaskets in it as well. Once I fixed that the car ran smooth.

I do think it could also be a bad coil pack. I had 1 go about 3 months ago but I didn't have shaking as much as what felt like fuel cuts. I was limited to about 50-60 mph but it was not easy at all to get up there.

My suggestion would be to make sure all your hoses are well connected. Ask a friend or family memeber to hit the throttle to get into boost and feel any pipe easily under boost for a leak and check out your coils/spark plugs. Vagcom might help as well if you know anyone that has one.

Hope this helps.

this happened to me recently; i checked my DIVERTER VALVE, vacuum lines, PCV. these were fine. my boost tap had a plug missing so i plugged it. then we checked the coil packes- swapped them out, along with new spark plugs, then i checked the fuel filter, swapped that out. still nothing got it fixed, thinking now it was the CAM follower OR FUEL PUMP. so that was the next thing to check out, but by this time, i had taken it to the vw dealership and they ran the computer and found misfiring. they rechecked everything i did, nothing looked out of sorts. they then cleared the code and had it sit idle for two hours and test drove it around. they could not get the misfiring or error code back on. in all they said it could have been dirty gasoline, air bubbles or dirt some where along the way.

so my suggestion is check everything that can possibly give a leak, then check your ignition coils and spark plugs, better yet swap them out. run idle for awhile, if this doesn't fix it, i sure you got to have someone else check it out.

hope this helps in some way

Happen to have a part #? Pretty sure I need to replace mine.
