All of my firearms are legally owned and acquired through proper channels, I am not a felon anywhere, I am not promoting violence. Quite frankly, I don't see the issue.
If you could please list some of these reasons for us? Maybe you can change our minds.
1) if ever you're involved in a shooting, an over zealous prosecutor can make the argument that you had such a fascination to guns that you showed them off on every forum or social media account that you had at your disposal. It's actually been done.
2) if ever the government decides to start confiscating guns, you'd have a hard time denying that you actually own a gun.
3) if ever you got into an argument with someone, like say on these threads, showing your firearm can be construed as a threat. Hardly prosecutable but it might actually be investigated.
Not paranoid here, I'm a supporter of the 2nd amendment, but unfortunately we live in a world where many don't support those rights and will go to whatever measures to use you as political fodder.
Here's how bad it is here in Minnesota, true story. 2 junkies break into a 70 year old man's home to rob him of his oxycontin that he takes for cancer. Old dying man
does not own a firearm. He wrestles the gun from the junkie and pops him. Junkie dies, the other flees. AG's office hands his case up to a grand jury for possible prosecution. Grand jury does not indict the man so nothing happens to him. Moral of the story, there are people out there who genuinely hate gun owners with a passion. I personally would give this man a medal, but that's just me.
Just my opinion, keep your private firearms just that,
private.
