I think it's more of a turning point for him. He wasn't a needless killer, but he's being persecuted as one, and to him, if he's already sentenced to death for "needless" killing that he didn't commit, he might as well be what everyone has made him out to be. He never was or has been a killer if not necessary, up until this point, so what I said still stands.

Tywin sentenced his son to die, for a murder he didn't commit, that he knew Tyrion didn't commit, and then to sleep with his son's once lover who betrayed him in court, after telling his son that he would kill the next whore he laid bed with, that's something of an ultimate betrayal in my eyes, definitely worthy of killing over.

Agree. Crime of passion =/= senseless killer.

Without giving anything away, I know a lot of readers who were upset that a certain character didn't show up. Guess they'll probably show up near the beginning of next season, but it would have made the finale to this season so much better.
