How do you change the bulb please ?.I've had a look at mine but for the life of me can't get the cover off to get to the bulb.It's right hand drive but can't see there being much difference to the us spec cars.

A little patience, a little prying.

Pry back the four corners of the metal shell to release the notches
and slide straight away from the lens.
There are ridges on the connection side of the lens
that fit into grooves of the shell,
so do not pull away at an angle - straight back.

BTW In my GTI the glove box light and footwell lights are exactly the same fixtures.

And of course, once you are in there you will find the ubiquitous W5W miniature wedge based 5 watt bulb.

Many thanks for that Jet :thumbsup: .I take it to get the ''lens'' cover out of the footwell trim (the grey plastic thing) is just a case of pulling as this is the bit i was strugling with & didn't want to break anything ?.

Still can't get the lens holder out of the under dash trim :mad0259::iono:.I've tried a flat blade screw driver to try & prise it out but no joy,what the fcuk have i missed please ?.:frown:

On the US version there are two footwell lights.
The drivers side is mounted in a plastic panel covering the bottom of the dash.
I have always dropped that panel (two T20 Torx)
when I wanted to remove that fixture.

The other one is in the bottom of the gove box assembly.
That one practically falls out on its own on mine,
pops out easily with a trim stick.
But if you need access behind,
it it is easy to push the under dash foam to the side under the glove box
and reach in to release the light fixture from behind.
