Hey Guys,

just started happening today, but when in D and coming to a complete stop at lights, the downshift from 2nd to 1st seems strange. Revs seem to flare on downshift and come down very slowly to idle after it has changed into 1st. Any ideas ??

Car : 07 MKV GTI

Cheers

with all mayhem going on we may have missed zebby's question.

Sounds like a DSG re-flash is in order, otherwise a metronic replacement. Take it to the dealer, hope its still under warranty.

Sounds like your DSG needs adaptation done by your dealer.. How many km's your car done?

Thanks guys for the replies.

Unfortunately car is out of warranty, so hopefully its not the mechatronic.

Car has only done 50 000 Kms

May have to have a talk to the dealer.

Cheers

Just an update,

when I got home today, parked car in garage and let it idle in P with handbrake on. This is what happened :

* revs started to go up slowly to about 1200rpm and sat there for a few seconds
* then started slowly coming down to normal idle.
* when it got there, the engine started coffing like it was about to stall for a few seconds
* then revs started rising slowly again to 1200rpm and so forth through the same thing a few times until I switched it off.

Any ideas ??

Ok Guys,

just an update, in case some others have the same issue.

Booked the car in for a check, assuming it was a coil pack issue as it is a known problem and there is a recall on them at the moment. They were changed but another issue was found. I quote,

"The fault with your vehicle is related to the engine breather valve, the valve has an internal spring which usually fails and causes an irregular crankcase pressure."

BSH Bulletproof PCV Revamp S1 ordered and installed and car is running like a dream. One thing the coil pack replacement has done, is the motor sounds a lot smoother.

so , what exactly was causing the revs to climb abnormally when car was parked?
i'm seeing the same thing in my car?

"engine breather valve has an internal spring which usually fails and causes an irregular crankcase pressure"

One would assume this in turn causes the irregular idle.

I think that is the PCV, right?
Would make sense given what you replaced.

That"s correct. Its the PCV. I think I read somewhere else, that when they replace these faulty ones it involves the PCV, breather tube front and back. They had a TSB a couple years ago in the good ol USA.

If you wanna save yourself some cash, and going OEM, here is a good DIY.
