Code help? P1093

Howdy all. A mates 2006 GTI with 80k miles threw a code. AFAIK, basic routine maintenance has been followed, i.e. oil changes every 10k etc.

This is the code I got, any suggestions?

I had p1093 and p0087 and my problem was

Lets hope that isn't the case. I would check your cam follower asap.

Also. I nevvvvvverr go 10k miles on an oil change. Usually around 5k my oil is very low. I try and change it every 3k. But, we all know the oil changes aren't cheap. So. Yeah.

Its actually a car belonging to a friend of mine. Highly likely its the follower, just wanted to see if his code was typical of a cam follower issue.

He will get it inspected and we'll go from there. Do the 2006's have that nasty banjo bolt? (my 2008 didn't)

If so, does the banjo bolt require a special tool?

Shouldn't have to undo the banjo bolt to check the follower.

Even if you did have to remove it. No special tool needed

wrong and wrong. you DO have to remove it and it requires an 8mm triple square bit

that guy doesn't have the banjo bolt since he has an 08, 06's and early model 07's have the banjo bolt that must be removed to remove the hpfp.

correct, he has the bamboo fiting which makes it soo much easier.
