Hi guys,

I would like to add an aux in cable to my MFD navigation system without losing the 6 disc changer.

Can anyone tell me if the item below will be compatible?

I also have a Parrot 3100 Kit professionally installed so would that cause any problems?

Thanks!

The MFD2 DVD oe navigation head unit is designed to support
both the cd changer and an aux, even the black button 2006 oe unit does this.
You simply need the correct connector for the aux and a jack to mount to it.
Very inexpensive addition, when i did it with the VW kit it was under $30.
The aux connecter for the MFD2 DVD is unique to that head unit, so it is not real common.
VW offered such a kit, but it is now discontinued and hard to find.
I covered the aux kit at the end of my post in the thread:
what do I need to hookup an MFD2 nav unit?

As for your aftermarket bluetooth kit,
as long as it connects through the standard VW phone interface,
it should not interfere with the addition of the aux.

Here's the part number for the kit... 1k0998940

Comes with aux plug, wore harness and socket that replaces the glove box light but you can be creative and mount that somewhere else!

Hey, how'd you get on with this?

I just fitted mine last night and it works a treat!! You gotta turn the volume right up on your iPod/iPhone and also louder than normal on your radio but the clarity is just like playing a CD!

I'm keeping my glove box light so running the cable through the centre console up to the armrest and fitting the jack next to the cd changer unit (haven't done that part yet).

I managed to get an airbag fault by turning on the ignition while the dashboard passenger airbag light was disconnected. Got rushed £40 for 5 mins work to erase the fault code!

EU and US MFD2 DVD nav HU have different aux connections

The aux connection on an EU market MFD2 DVD nav is NOT the same
as the aux connection on an NAR market MFD2 DVD nav.
Completely different connector that connects in a completely different place.

So the kit you reference above is useful to those in the EU
and misleading to those in the US.

VW offered a worldwide aux kit for the MFD2 DVD
that contains more parts that any one install would use,
so that it has the connectors unique to each market.

the different connection locations.

The parts you've quoted above are no longer available and VW only offer the one solution now as per the part number I originally quoted. I can't speak for the US but the kit is a neat finish rather than just having a trailing wire from the back of the radio.

The kit also offered different connections depending on whether you have a DVD, cd or radio head unit. But it's obvious which connection you use. If yours is a DVD then you already have the connector fitted, you just need to add the new wiring harness which has three cables and an earth.

Here's what the kit looks like...

I can't see how EU or US would be different, the above kit is the full kit. You just got to use the correct connectors as shown in those fitting instructions you posted - it will work...
