So, is my ram too close to the capacitor on my mobo?

Well, I had 1GB in my computer, and decided to buy (2) 1GB sticks to upgrade the memory, since it was dirt cheap. When i put the ram in, i noticed that they were pretty close to some capacitors. Is this going to be a problem?

BTW, my computer is a Dell 400SC(over 5 years old). The ram with the heat spreaders are 512 sticks. the ones w/o the heat spreaders are 1GB sticks.

Agreed. It'll be fine.

Ram won't get hot enough to cause any damage to the caps.

However, the way the DIMM sockets are positioned is kinda weird.

As long as you don't get any metal on metal contact that makes a short between a component trace/lead, you're fine. From the pictures, it looks like there won't be any problems.

Yeah, the Mobo has two straight up, two at an angle. It's a little more of a pain to put in, but no biggie. My guess would be that perhaps they needed a little more room to clear something or another.
