Launch control help!!

2wdBlazer

Ready to race!
Ok. Just got the car recently and searched the forums on how to launch my DSG.

1.Stop

2.Apply brake firmly with left foot

3.Shift to nuetral

4.Turn off Traction Control

5.Drop down to sport mode

6.Rev up to 3K or whatever I choose

Well it will only rev to roughly1500 and wants to move the car. It obviously is not working.

My car is a 2007 4 door if that matters. So what the hell? :mad0259:

errr you got it 1/2 right.

1. make sure engine is within normal operating temps

2. complete stop

3. shift car into 'S' mode

4. left foot hard on brake

5. it should rev freely to about 3k

6. release brake and hold on.

you know you're doing it right when it spins freely to 3k...if not then you are just power braking it.

I heard that some cars come to the states from the factory with launch control disabled. why? I have no idea. I'm pretty sure my car doesn't have it enabled either because when I put it into 'S', turn of ESP, hold the brake, and hit the throttle, it stops at 1500 RPM or so as well.

I'd call your dealer and try and figure out what's up. the service department should be able to enable it in a matter of minutes.

edit: if the car isn't revving freely, then as the other guy said, you're basically power braking (I've also heard it as brake torquing) the car, which isn't good for it. more specifically, it's not good for the engine or the transmission. so I'd not test it anymore and just ask the dealership to check it.

Make sure the car is warm....this is key.

Turn off traction control....must do this too.

Then try it in manual mode.

Even with all that sometimes (rarely) the car doesn't want to do it. Try again.

I will try again tomorrow but I'm pretty sure I did it right.

car has to be in WARM temp,

manual says it all,

and i cannot stress that many times enough, i used to have the same thought until i realized the second time i tried i realized i still had a cold engine

Tried again a few times today. It just does not work and I followed steps closely. Car was driven about 5 miles / 15 minutes before trying. I will have try the dealer i guess.

I tried it again...

I guess the last time I tested it out, I didn't let the engine warm up all the way yet.

It certainly works though!

Well, I didn't actually try the launch, but the engine did rev freely when I held down the brake with the transmission in "S" or manual mode with the ESP off. And it did go up to 3000 RPM.

If your car is an early 07 you might need to have it flashed in at the dealer.

i think 06.5 was labled as 07 right?

so yeah anything before the actual year of 07 might not have it ,

don't quote me but i remember all 06's not comming with it

and some dealers (if your lucky will flash you for a fee)

That's right. You have to check your build date, mine was a 5.07 and it had the LC software.
