where get the paint code?

i looked inside the trunk and i saw nothing. any idea what are the locations for the paint code?

Not 100% sure if it is the same in the US as in the UK, but in the service schedule book, inside the front page It should have a sticker. The sticker will say

The type of car.......eg Golf GTI

The power output....eg 169KW

The engine code......eg BYD-

The car colour code..eg LA7W

You were in the right place, the label back there does include the paint code.
You will need to remove the drivers side styrofoam insert to see the label in the rear compartment.

Is the labeling different for different model years or 2-door / 4-door?

There are three factory labels inside my driver's door. :iono:

drivers door jamb - 2006 US Spec 2-door GTI

Manufacturer, build date, Gross Vehicle Weight Rating, Gross Axle Weight Rating,
US NHTSA compliance statement, VIN (altered), bar coded VIN

No seat cover - side airbag in seats warning
