VW OEM center caps running change

One of my center caps from an 18 inch Charleston was lost / fell out / stolen / etc. I went to my local dealer to get a replacement, the part number is 3B7 601 171 BXF. Well sometime in 2007, VW switched the design from this gray and silver colored center cap to a black and silver center cap and the part number went from 3B7 601 171 BXF (for the gray, silver) to 3B7 601 171 XRW (for the newer black, silver). One cannot purchase the original gray (3B7 601 171 BXF), what a bummer.

Yeah I tried the blacks, they're a "no go" -- the black does not go well with the anthracite of the Charlestons. I'm thinking that my only hope is for "old stock" at some VW dealership.

I just had my VW parts guy on the west coast check all the depots (WIS, JAX, NJ, FTW, LA, VAN, TOR, and NARDC), zero stock everywhere. I'm SOL (VW-suits bastards).
