TTRS Brakes

There was a TTRS running in my heat over the weekend, so I cruised by to take a look. The brakes look nice. The specs are 370 x 32, looks like you can special order them through OEMPlus for $4000

Holy CHIT!

I was trying to fit up a set of 365mm RS4 brakes to my car, but they wouldn't even start to clear my wheels lol.

I like my 355mm Brembos for the money....

The brakes are great, but there are a couple things you guys should be aware of:

- The breaks stop like crazy, but the stock pads (Brembo) glaze easily and then fade. I'm using Carbotech XP10s for track days.
- The calipers are huuuuge. I'm shopping for track wheels and haven't found an 18" that fits. Most concave spokes will clear it, but the barrel rubs. The caliper sits so far out from the axle. So, even if a wheel advertises 'BBK compatible', it's the 18" rim that's the issue. The only confirmed wheels are the Euro OEM 18 and a German rep (that's obviously not available here).

Calipers ''huge''???? Compared to what?
These are some oft the smallest 4-piston fixed calipers on the market.

The OEM 'Brembo' pads are made by Pagid (which also do some of the finest
racing pads) with just 'Brembo' and Audi logos printed on. No racing stuff
indeed.

The TT-RS setup isn't bad at all, but there are some weak points:

- poor ventilation
- no directional rotors
- small pad area
- questionable pad material

In Europe the complete TT-RS front brake parts are ~ 2000,-- € and
fit the Mk.V/VI GTI. Don't go for RS3 discs which have a different offset
unless you have S3/RS3 hubs also.
