Yea, sounds like the bigger vehicle is better for you! I visited Colorado for the first time this year, I came out for the Bills/Broncos game (I am a huge Bills fan) and wow it was beautiful. I wish I could have brought my bike out with me.

Thanks for the suggestion on the hitch. I will consider this option. My boyfriend is going to get one on his ZDX ... I realize it is a completely different vehicle, but I will see how I like his before I decide.

Yeah I spent a long time looking a replacement for the GTI. I wanted an SUV, it had to be big enough that I could adjust the front seat to fit me (I'm 6'2") and I could jump in the back seat and fit behind me comfortably, it had to fit inside the garage, it had to have a 2" hitch to carry a 4 bike rack, it had to leather for easy clean up, it had to have a center differential instead of a transfer case (full time 4 wheel drive, not RWD until you lock it in 4WD), it had to be able to fit 4 people plus skis and gear INSIDE, it had to have an automatic trans, and I wanted long term reliability. I miss the GTI on the mountain roads in the summer and I always miss the acceleration (stage 2 with bolts on) but it was a good swap. It was a great car for when we lived in Chicago but it wasn't adequate for the mountains. We still have the 2012 Jetta.

ZDX... do you mean RDX?

Lol it is hard finding a good car! I started looking a year before my lease was up and I am very happy with my GTI. But boy did I drive a bunch of cars ... And they would always stick me with the sales person who knew nothing. I guess they just assumed that a girl coming into a car dealership alone didn't know much about cars. Anyway glad you got what you want and it works for you.

Nope not the RDX he has a ZDX its a coupe like suv it was discontinued a few years ago. I totally get why they discontinued it. Not my favorite but he loves it. The GTI is soooo much better in my opinion.

I just googled a pic of it, it's the Accord Crosstour, but, well, uglier. I've never seen the Acura version in person ever.

Hahaha well I am ok with the looks of it ... It is just not practical. Every time we see i crosstour I think it looks similar but he swears that car is ugly and the ZDX is not. It's not great on gas and you can not carry many people or lots of stuff. I can pretty much carry as much cargo in my GTI as the ZDX does.

Because I needed a space bubble, with Colorado weather it varied every weekend if we were going to bike or ski. On more than 1 occasion we've skied in the morning and biked int he afternoon.

So envious of your environment for ski/bike and the pain cave!!
I used to cycle to work (urban) by road bike rain or shine (a lot of rain in fact) - some near death experience... Sadly only spinning classes these days, at least dry and safe.
Where do you go skiing?

I typically get whichever pass has Eldora on it, it's a small (compared to the big resorts) place that's about 30 miles from home. This year I have the Rocky Mountain Super Pass Plus which is Copper, Winter Park, Steamboat, Crested Butte, and Eldora. Last year we got Epic Passes which was A-Basin, Keystone, Breckenridge, Beaver Creek, Vail, and Eldora.

Still trying to decide what bike carrier I want, either the seasucker or the oem base bars with a bike carrier / mount

My 18lb XC race bike.

Road bike is Tarmac SL4.

Can't decide how best to haul the MtB. Don't want a roof rack. Trailer hitch rack might be best bet.

I used to ride a Cervelo S2, but really didn't have much time so I got rid of it and kept the mountain bike which was a Trek Fuel EX7 27.5".

I actually just sold that yesterday due to time again and will be picking up a Cannonade Bad Boy for general riding around with the family.
