Stock Exhaust Question

In the red box below, how's the muffler connected to the pipe? If I were to replace that muffler, does cutting have to be involved?

I'm asking because Remus (I know some of you are interested in their stuff) exhaust looks like this.

It looks like it'll connect right into the pipe inside the red box in the first picture.

are you just taking out the muffler and leaving in the resinator?... I'm not sure which part you are wanting to replace.

ahh that second pic of the Remus muffler did not load in the first time... so I thought he wanted to take it out completely as in the picture
