Hi everyone,
As much as it pains me to say, it is time to pass on my GTI.
$6,900
I've done slight upgrades and done all of the maintenance over the last 4 years. I bought the car with 101k miles on it and it currently has 137k miles.
Job - Miles on car at time of job
Oil and oil filter changes every 7,500 miles starting at 101k miles - Liquid moly.
Cam follower checked at every oil change, I have changed it twice based on cam follower condition. Most recently at 130k miles.
Coil Packs and iridium spark plugs (ES#2065380) - 101k miles
New Cooper all season tires - 101k miles, tires currently have about 1mm above wear indicator
Vented front rotors - 101k miles
Updated diverter valve - 101k miles
Timing belt job - installed the ECS tuning timing belt kit that includes pulleys, tensioners, seals, water pump, belts, etc. (ES#1884412) - 115k miles
Luft-Technik Cold Air Intake System (ES#2981595) - 115k miles
Thermostat replacement kit (ES#2588723) - 118k miles
Dogbone Mount Insert Kit (ES#251900) - 118k miles
Fuel System: HPFP, Low pressure fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pump gasket, fuel pump control unit (version with upgraded heat sink) - 118k miles
High Flow Intercooler Charge Pipe Kit (ES#4368720) - 130k miles
Mechanically the car is solid to the best of my knowledge.
Electrically the only concern is that someone reconnected the rear passenger window control backwards so down is up and up is down. I rarely control the window so it's never bothered me.
Aesthetically there are a few things someone would notice:
-Headliner is stapled in place by the previous owner and it's never bothered me enough to fix it.
-Cloth door coverings are sagging in rear doors
-There is a door ding in the driver's door
-Slight buckle in the side skirt. I didn't notice it until a month after buying the car. I called the the previous owner who told me it happened years before I bought it
-Wheels have curbing...I've always found myself too late on someone offloading a set of Austin's within pickup distance. Nothing wrong with the wheels other than curbing.
