Breaking news...

Breaking news courtesy of iMotor with information on a 265bhp/350Nm powered Scirocco R model. The hot ‘Roc will be revealed this weekend at the Wörthersee show.

The good news, as noted, is the addition of the Audi S3 engine to the sexy Scirocco. That means, bigger turbo, strengthened internals and high-pressure injectors. The not so good news is that all that power will be driven through the front wheels only, with grip reliant on Volkswagen’s new XDS electronic diff as seen in the Golf GTI. Six-speed manual and DSG transmissions will be available. The reworked body kit adds the required level of agression, too...

Hmmm 200kw/350nm via Front wheels.... I'm not sure what to think...

Does that mean the R20T will be front wheel drive too?

Care to elaborate???

If you don’t like it being FWD why are you driving around in a GTI?
because this is supposed to be the .:R version!!

.:R = awd!!!

Yes, it does, but all previous .:R models have had 4MOTION.

Hopefully AWD is being saved for the uber GTI.

It really is pushing it, especially without a propper LSD, i meen COME ON! It would be a killer car with AWD :frown:

Considering the winning 24hr Nurburgring GT24 Sirocco was FWD, this .:R for racing version would be FWD as well, regardless of all other .:R for racing models....

That car has around the 238kw which is more than this version at around the 196kw. I don't think that one had an LSD either... I can't see why VW cannot release an .:R Sirocco with the current specs... It only pay homage to the GT24 and how good the car is.

I'm sure it also saves them money :)

I think that's called a S3
I don't think the S3 will ever look this good.
It is too busy acting like a Golf in a business suit.

Nice martin, yeah and being fucking ridiculously expensive (although i did wet my pants in a good way the other day when i saw one in ibis white with Rs4 seats )

Such a shame, would be epic in AWD

I really doubt the Nurburg racer wasn't running a mech-lsd... and we all know FWD cars can be MADE to run quickly, but not without losing some comfort (through stiffness) .:R cars are supposed to be an out of the box solution!

If the .:R-GTI isn't AWD i'm leaving VW
