There isn't a specific thread for such a thing. It could also get you into a lot of trouble with a defamation case. I'd suggest sharing your story with everyone around you in person and put it behind you.

I'd love to share my story about the KMAC vs Wholesale Suspension (and vice versa) drama I went through a while back, but I won't. ;)

I know I'd get the Bejeezus beaten out of me for recommending a dealer :fighting0030: but I have always been happy with Barloworld Glen Waverley service. Even when they got things wrong, they set about making it right really fast. Today I went in with a stuck left passenger door lock and, even though the car was out of warranty, they replaced the lock gratis for me. At least they reward repeat custom!

I'd like to recommend my mechanic Steve ph 0414579538 in Abbotsford NSW, he works for VW during the day as a snr mechanic but does work from his place after hours and on weekends. Had him service both my VW, uses genuine parts, etc and offers great pricing and after hours is a huge help to me working full time. Does services, vagcom coding, bluetooth kits, stereo upgrades, etc.

Jason Smith @ Jax Quickfit in Bowen Hills QD (Brisbane) - He's always looked after me and I've bought 5 or 6 set of wheels (let alone tyres) from him.

He also does a lot of work for the local Audi dealers so always has a lot of OE Audi stuff second hand.

Yeah, I second that. Got a lot of stuff through him over the years. Also when I worked for Audi we dealt with them too, no stuffing about.
Bumped into my old head mechanic from Audi, Darren. He is at Lamborghini now and still deals with Jason.

Also see Marcus at the new MIDAS at Albion, Brisbane. They are pretty good. Deal with a lot of turbo stuff. Good guy, no bullshit, wont rip you off.

PS there is a 10 second TX3 out the back in peices. It's Owen's, one of the mechanics there. Never race with the handbrake on!

Highly recommend paint + bodywork at Hume's Bodyworks in Albion, Brisbane. I live on the southside but I went to them from a recommendation by a friend, very helpful and genuine guys, VERY reasonable prices (less than half of what another body shop quoted me for sanding + priming + painting rear valance).

Once I showed them the valance is a direct fit onto the bumper, they even fit it on for me with screws and sikaflex, and later when there were fitment issues they also cut the valance in several places to ensure a perfect fit, all at no extra cost.

Preferably Northern areas.

I've contacted European Autotech for a quote - but would still like to compare against what others could recommend from experience.

i would recommend Compact Repair Centre, at mona vale ,72 darley st.
they were recommended to me by Srbsta. they did a great job with both our car's suspensions at a reasonable price.

BWA Auto in Seven Hills, NSW for servicing. They also fitted my replacement oem piston DV and fuel pump cam follower. Car feels smoother now on acceleration. They gave it a good wash too. They are German car specialists. I like that they also filled out my service book properly which is something my local dealer never did...

AlloyPro in Artarmon is great if anyone wants rims repaired or painted a different colour.

Got another one for parts. Believe it or not Westside Audi in Brisbane has parts for VW (the parts shared with Audi) cheaper than any online place I've found. I'm just getting the air filter rubber mounts (036 129 689 B) but they are cheaper through Audi than anywhere else I can find. Go figure...

Mind me asking how much was it to repair a kerb? I've been quoted a range of prices from $100+ to $250 per corner!

Depends... Machined wheels are cheaper to repair than powdercoated or painted wheels because the dont have to worry about undercoats and colour matching, just re-machining, also depends if it's a body shop or a wheel reconditioner. Body shops are generally cheaper but they bog the wheels with body filler and then refinish where as wheels conditioners will actually fill the gutter rash with more alloy then refinish it.

Depulu wheel guys here in brissie quoted me 150 for a kerbed A8 wheel (machined face) and I have also been quoted $150 for a kerbed RS4wheel but from a body shop for bogging the damage and powdercoating the wheels black.

I guess it depends on what kind of wheels you have and what quality you are looking for in the reconditioning. Remember - You get what you pay for!

If you can afford it - Depulu every time.
