Rattling/Clunking Noise coming from front drivers side wheel

It sounds as if there is a loud metal-on-metal rattling noise coming from the front drivers side wheel well. I'm unaware of whether it is a suspension component or the common subframe clunk. I hear it while driving at pretty much any speed, and the noise is louder when I go over bumps or hit potholes.

I replaced the axle thinking the C.V. boot was ripped and the noise hasn't stopped.

Any ideas?

My next idea would be to buy a spacer kit from ECS for the subframe clunk, but I want to get some opinions

What about the control arms bushings?

Check the sway bar end links first, then inspect/check the bushings...as well as the strut mount

Was having the same problems with my 09 rabbit, took the wheels off and the lower bolt holding my coilovers was gone. Spent a week or so driving with no rear drivers side suspension without my knowledge.
