Piston damage after thrown timing?

So my tensioner failed while I was doing 75mph+ and bent my valves. I was about to order new parts but decided to take a look at the pistons with a borescope before spending the money because I have heard of cases where the impact between piston and valve can cause catastrophic damage to the piston. On piston #2 there is what appears to be a large dent or hole. I am not super familiar with looking at a borescope so I was wondering if anyone could look at the pictures and confirm or deny my suspicion.

I have a 07 MK5 GTI FSI engine with 120k miles on it.

Looks like a carbon deposit on the head. That's pretty normal for a GDI engine. While you have the head off use some scotch-brite and wd-40 to remove it.
