I picked up a '15 Specialized Camber Evo and have been riding trails in Texas. It's quite a bit more rocky than I'm used to here, so I went with a full suspension bike. The evo seemed to fit best for me. Has anyone done a 2x10 to 1x11 conversion?

I still need to order tires, bars, stem, seatpost, saddle, cable housings, headset spacers, and I think thats about it.

Yeah. The price of wheels, plus a massive amount of overtime at work and moving in with the girlfriend put a damper on that search.

What's the thing that's holding your chain up?

its a chain guide helps keep the chain from slapping and jumping gears

To my knowledge they are only used on downhill and jump bikes. So you care more about keeping your chain on than resistance

What made you go with X01 on most of the parts? Big cost cut over XX1?

I haven't tried it without the guide yet, but I can say the bike was much easier to pedal over level ground than a Stumpjumper or Trek Fuel 8. Could have a lot to do with the tires though.

I have been riding with a chain guide for over 2 years (stumpjumper) and as far as i know, there isnt any added resistance. They put it on the more agressive bikes (read: non- XC race bikes) to keep the chain from flapping around and hitting the chainstay on chattery stuff like rock gardens

It was 60 in Boulder today, which meant playing in the dirt in shorts and t-shirts. And a winter weather advisory is going to leave Winter Park with 6"-10" for a powder day tomorrow.
