That still doesn't take away the fact that I don't like it. But, that's my personal preference, because I like the compactness of older GTI's.

How old? The last 3 gens are nearly identical.

The last few, comparing to newer MK7. I parked mine next to MK7, and MK7 looked enormous in comparison. I do like MK7's face better. More aggressive, but from the side and the back, it almost looked like a crossover and not a hot hatch.

I honestly don't know what you're saying new car is lower and slighly longer and wider. How can you say it looks like a van

It's all matter of perspective where the shots were taken from. Both of the shots above MK6 is lot closer to the camera so it seems bigger, but in person I'm telling you MK7 looked bigger than mine. Lower yes, but looked lot longer and just bigger. I can't explain it really. Also looks at that bulge on MK7's back, vs MK6 flat back. I hated that., it makes MK7 look like a crossover IMO. Plus more than 2 inch longer wheel base. That's a lot!

the wheel base inches make for a better ride and more rear leg room space :)

True, but less fun :)

I have yet to drive one... but it is also 100-150lbs lighter which would make it more nimble and it has a bit of extra power. Every review stated it is more fun... I have yet to see for myself. Other than the steering wheel and wheels it is hard to find fault with the car...

That first car is a freak... no other mag had em that fast I have never seen another mk6 break 6 seconds stock. Also 2 vs 4 door and base vs loaded versions.

But like I said, nothing epic here. A stock Mk7 is essentially a stage 1 mk6, I don't expect "handling" to be any better other than some advantages due to true LSD yet only on the PP equipped cars.

Braking performance is 10ft shorter though ;)

Oh you're right... I got thrown off by the "base" price. For some reason its listed at 29k for the mk7. I thought the final final #s were around 30XX for the Mk7 vs 31XX for the mk6. Hard to tell till actual forum members start weighing them. Certainly no where near the 250lbs promised and advertised.

Btw one thing that really pisses me off about the mk7... the gas tank is 13.2 gallons vs 14.5 That sucks :(

I am assuming that's how they got more "space" in the cabin.
