In the market for a notebook

Now that I have started school, it seems necessary that I buy one. *cough* for school work obviously. I'm very interested in the Mac book pro, I saw the specs and its a powerful machine.

A lot of nay sayers tell me to stray away from them, anyone that owns one please let me know. Battery life is a big issue with me, I don't want to be plugged in all the time.
I have also been looking up on HP, not a bad company.

Please let me know what you guys are running, so I can have a better Idea on what to buy.

Oh Btw my budget is 2500 max!

i just got a new macbook not a pro and switched over from windows and i love it

fyi just as a warning there are alot of rumors that a new macbook pro is coming out soon

If I had 2500 to spend on a laptop I'd get a custom built Sager with one of the new mobile 8800 GTX's in it.

I got a regular macbook for about $1600 and I use it for professional design and have been real happy with it since I got it in November. Boss got a Mac Air and it is sick but I wouldn't bother personally. Wait the month to see what is announced.
