HOLIDAY IN QLD!!

hey mate... i live on the GC... where abouts are you staying???

if your staying in cavill its probably Circle on Cavill... if your a guest you dont have to worry about paying for parking as a guest... you will end up walking round in surfers and i would suggest Broadbeach for food and casino.. only about $7 cab fair.. the coast is a pretty small place and a car is pretty handy when going to the theme parks etc...

if your against a car, a would be about $60-$70 from the airport and same again back... you can get a bus to the theme parks which is cheaper but say you got a cab, it would be about $50 each way...

i would get a car if it was me... the cost to the theme parks and to and from the airport balances out the hiring cost... this also doesnt limit you seeing some other things if you want like Brisbane or day trip to Byron Bay etc...

you need anything else let me know... i would take you and round but ill be moving house around the sametime but might be keen for a beer...

we are staying at Circle on Cavil, good guess mate. haha
i figured that PT and a Taxi to and from the airport would maybe cost more or the same as a hire car.
if i have time i will try and meet up with some QLD members.( if the GF doesn't mind)
i don't drink beer tho.

Hong, I booked a 'rolla for ~$40/day and think I'll probably end up being offered something nicer when I arrive. This is through Hertz. A 'free day' weekend plus auto club 4% discount, so 3 days just over $120 all up.

Byza what's your opinion of the HI? I use Intercontinental hotels a lot and it gets rated better than the CP, though now I've found out that Broadbeach is probably a better place to stay than Surfers, so kind of regret not getting an exec room at CP!

Aside from hooning up to Mt Tamborine and a fun park or two, what are some options out there to entertain the missus?

Yeah the other three parks don't include dreamworld, but dreamworld is the best anyway (by a fair way IMO). There is a water park there too anyway.

There are usually discount tickets for RACQ so perhaps RACV have a similar thing?

yeh, waterparks are out of the question, GF's not a strong swimmer. lol
RACV do have discounted tickets for members.
will most likely get them that way.

i won a trip to surfers and we got carted to and from the airport in an s class

Turns out it would have only cost 75 each way. Not much more than the bus!

sounds like you will end up doing sea world which all girls love and perhaps dreamworld for a good mixture of cruisey rides and bit more crazy... i enjoyed movieworld as i am pretty big kid at heart and bit of cartoon fan LOL...

I can be a long day at a theme park with all the walking etc... are you here over a weekend? there could well be a cruise on or something... i would suggest heading to Byron Bay or Kingscliff rather then Moolooaba/Sunshine Coast as the drive is the killer.. about 2.5hrs each way pending traffic but it is a beautiful spot too...

Circle on Cavill is pretty good spot.. few good restaurants underneath the building and around... easy walk to beach and bit of shopping around depending what your into...

if you want to know anything let me know.. i feel like a tourist guide... LOL

Mate HI is alright now with the full refurb it had a few years ago when raptis bought it... Broadbeach is much nicer than surfers.. i lived in Broadbeach for 4 years until recently and still have an apartment there... very relaxing place, nice restaurants, cafes and bars and also away from the nightclub grim... getting a little old from the loud weekends in the party strips...

Sofitel isnt too bad but there is heaps of apartment in Broady cheap... i highly recommend Broadbeach or even Burleigh which is all about beach etc..

Byza, i like Broadbeach and Burleigh heads the best as well, both quite nice.. Some friends were staying at Sofitel, nice hotel... As you say surfers is a bit dingey at night time.

Byron Bay (& maybe Lennox Heads) would be well worth checking out.
