heat shield question

i know this is a dumb questions but where do the bolts go into? the the valve cover do i have to take bolts out and in order to get it in?

Make sure you put blue threadlocker. I had a weird rattle I thought was coming from my recently installed dp, nope, a nut had fallen down (lawl) and made the heat shield rattle.
