i dont think he was trying to claim originality.. which is quite hard to do in the music/dance industry since almost everything is pretty much recycled. i guess he just came at the right time where all the artist were just making crazy crazy music videos(ie. lady gaga, katy perry, and lil wayne's purple elephant?) while he just made a video that was simply fun and funny for a lot of people.
