Fuel cut just before redline? Ideas?

2006 GTI. 125xxx miles, APR stage 2 tune.

Car is developing the strange fuel cut issue, just before the top of its revs.
This issue happened to me before about 5 months ago. At that time, i pulled the HPFP and the cam+cf looked fine. Reinstalled it and the issue went away.

Yesterday, the car is giving me the same issues. I pulled the pump and the cam+cf looks fine. Reinstalled and the issue is still present.

Previous owner has already replaced the cam and follower with new revision about 10k miles ago.

Thoughts?

Car needs an upgraded HPFP. APR stage 2 is notorious for fuel cuts at high revs because the stock HPFP can't keep up

Thats what i gathered after doing a bit of forum searching. The thing that gets me is that the issue previously went away.

Alright, got my hands on a vagcom, what pids should I log?

Log Blocks 230 (HP Fuel Rail) and 231 (LPFP)
Depending on what your ECU tune is requesting vs what your hardware is actually supplying could give you an idea.
Also just scan for fault codes before & after you log.
Some possible causes could be:
Fuel filter
LPFP
N276
Blocked Fuel Pressure Regulator.

So I suppose I'll report back on this in case anyone has a similar issue.

I went ahead and picked up a crankshaft position sensor from ebay for about ten bucks. I didn't want to drop the full beau coup dollars on the oem part if i wasn't so sure that this would fix it.

Wrapped up the install and took it out for a test drive, problem solved.

I also replaced the spark plugs and coil parks for good measure.
