erratic idle and hissing sound on engine shut off

Hi hoping some one can help me with a fault on my 2007 ed 30, noticed a slight miss on tick over when I stop at junctions and lights, and a hissing sound on engine switch off,
Closer investigation I could see the pcv was sucking in air from a small factory hole on the saucer part, took it off and seams to work fine you can suck one way but not the other, ordered a new one and fitted it just to be on the safe side,

With the new one fitted the engine revs and hunts between 1000rpm and 1500rpm, it pulses continually, I have changed all the spark plugs and new air filter and cam follower and dv, notice if I open the oil filler cap slightly to cause a vacuum leak it ticks over normally, hope some one can help it is driving me crazy,

First I would double check the PVC. Maybe the one installed is not working properly. Then, see if there are any vacuum lines bumped off or broken. Check your intake to the turbo, see if that is on tight and check the intake all around.

It's possible you have a worn camshaft from the cam follower. What did the old one look like when you replaced it?

thanks for the speedy reply, the cam follower was good no wear, replaced it as i had bought a new one, just find it strange, the old pcv with the hissing coming from the factory vent sounds better when fitted only a slight uneven tick over, but when i put the new pcv on the car pulses from 1000 to 1500 rpm non stop, then if i open the oil cap to cause a vacuum leak it sounds better, ?

Yeah sounds like your old PCV was bad but the new one is causing a weird vacuum leak. I would double check everything just to be sure, hoses and all.

If you google P1093 GTI, a couple of problems come up from that code. PCV, cam follower, and bad cam lobe.

sorted this problem if any one has the same fault, turns out the pcv the vw dealer gave me was 06F129101P, if you intend to use this revision you wil need the rear pvc pipe with the check valve in, i returned it and for the 06F129101R straight swap works fine,
