Elliott's "meh" build thread

So I have been on this forum 8 years and never thought there was much point on myself making a thread for my car seeing I had only ever done what every other mkv has. Seen it all before in my eyes so why clutter up the forum with many threads the same.
However after purchasing the car new back in 07 I've spent way to much time, love and money on the car and feel like it now deserves the build that I'm creating here. After the recent work I have been doing to it in the body shop and posting a few pics, a few people have been asking me to create one - so here I am.
It's not in any form of correct order and quite a few pics on different wheel setups I can not find so may edit them in at a later date.
At first I said I wasn't going to mod this car.... But no - that didn't last long.. :biggrin:

so how she first looked back in 07. same as the others, boring but still a mkv gti

about a year down the road and a little modding had started. At the time the R-gti concept car had just been released and I fell in love, was young silly and foolish but it persuaded me into buying a set of time attack wheels from Inovet. They didn't last long on the car, but I guess was fun while it lasted..
also you may notice that I have already fallen in love with a plate less front bumper from being on here and seeing the cars over in the USA, so I had an illegal plate made from a sticker but all I got was trouble from the local police so had to figure out how to do it legally with a properly produced small plate that is oem for some Alpha's and Seats. All done and dusted now.

then I wanted that bit more power so went Giac stage 1 and also tried to tidy up my bay a bit by installing the Nuespeed stuff you see here... yes I was still learning and doing it wrong but hay I got there in the end.

Not long after I realised how silly the time attack wheels looked so went back to huffs but lowered on eibach sportline springs,
If you also look closely other parts from the mod list have started to show up and already been installed.
I quickly went stage 2, twintercooler, cat back and open custom cut fog grills & yellow ftp bulbs are just to name a few.

next I picked up the 19" huff w12 reps, ran them for about a week then sold them on. Also due to my work I painted my stock huffs in bmp and red to match our lip line but also sold those on pretty quickly:lol:

now the fun stuff began-the mod bug really hit me and this is when the car started to take shape, installed interior gauges, did the rear wiper delete...... here is just a few random pics..

then I did a refurb to my steering wheel with my leather paints as it was going all shiney and greasy looking after a few years of owning the car. it came out real nice and was happy for a short while.

Looks great so far. Thanks again for your help when I painted my wheels, lacquer really sets them off.

ok so on to more up to date stuff.
I ended up doing what every one told me I would and got rid of the springs and got the fk silverlines in also along with an engine bay dress up red silicon hose kit and an ebay dp

i then got a set of rs reps that i was running in alphard specs to try all this stretch and poke malarkey that all the cool kids do.:wink:

then i did the rear wiper delete and also upgraded my interior with some alcantara trim due to my roof lining sagging.

So I pulled all the interior out and prepped what I could before taking it down to my upholstery shop to leave it in the good hand of my German friend.
