I did a quick search and couldn't find this on the forum. I'll be replacing my passenger side later today.

I had success by opening the actuator and just replacing all the lead free solder with leaded. Fixes the issue permanently as the issue probably still exists with the replacement part.

The worst part is dealing with the conformal (red) coating VW uses.

The closest of the 6 pins was broken.

I re-soldered all 20 or so.

My driver side rear door just stopped locking within the past couple weeks. There was a period where it would only unlock about 50% of the time. Ugh - wasn't ware this required the outsider door skin to be removed but doesn't look too tough. Anyone got a good suggestion for sourcing a new actuator mechanism other than the dealer? I'd rather not bother with trying to repair the old one unless a new one is stupid expensive.

You can get the part number from ECS or rockauto and shop around. I ended up getting mine from FCP Euro...lifetime warranty.
