Don't bother arguing with GTIfan. I never knew he was a socialist.
Ok Boomer.

Sorry, there's only three possible scenarios.

1. We pay people poverty wages and government subsidizes them.
2. We pay people enough to live.
3. We pay people poverty wages and then spend money on all the social issues poverty brings.

It's nuts that 2. Is considered socialism by boomers, the most subsidized generation in the history of our country.

It's not socialism to recognize that massively subsidizing corporations and the wealthy is bad for the economy.

It's also not socialism to recognize that basic needs of modern society aren't a good fit for capitalism. Justice system, jails/prisons, utilities, health care, just aren't compatible to actually do that they were intended to do in a cost efficient manner.

Private prisons are a boomer gift to the country. Freedum

Sure it is nice, but would it really impact you if you kept paying the tax?
Yes. I would pay thousands of dollars in additional taxes if they removed the cap, with no increase in benefit. Money I would put towards my children's education. I actually work for a living and pay more than my fair share. Middle to high income people aren't the problem and we are taxed at a much higher rate than those making significantly more and less than us.

You're absolutely right, people should be able to earn a living wage, but there is nothing wrong with making more - even a lot more.

And yes, our tax system is screwed up if it allows so many loopholes that the rich pay few taxes.

But neither of these have anything to do with the stupid suggestion to raise the minimum wage to $50

A few points - the "I would pay thousands" applies to the increased taxes over the years - but you'll get that back in social security as it would still be around if the cap is removed.

think of all the money you'd have if you didn't have kids.

And yes, our tax system is screwed up.

Nothing wrong with making more.

Something terribly wrong with there being centbillionaires paying almost nothing in taxes and half the population living at or near poverty.

Something terribly wrong that health care is being used to pay massive compensation to executives and investors while medical debt is one of the top causes of bankruptcy.

Something terribly wrong allowing monopolies that are creating billionaires.

Something wrong with a profit motive to imprison people.

Something terribly wrong with government subsidizing companies and the wealthy, while charging students massive amounts of money to get the educations required for our economy to function and billionaires even exist.

Anyone that calls what we're doing now capitalism is a moron. It's socialism for the rich, fuck you to everyone else. And what worse, we've convinced large portions of middle class that the poor are the problem.

You will.

SS has always been self sufficient and always pulled in way more than it's paid out. The excess goes to the general fund. Congress then spent the excess.

The boomer generation was so large, with so many people retiring at the same time, that SS will need to pay out more than it takes in, because gen X is a pretty small demographic group and millennial and gen Z largely aren't making enough money to support the boomers.

Once the boomers die of, SS will again bring in more than it pays out.

In the meantime, once SS taxes can no longer pay out the full amount required by law, congress will be required to fund the difference. As we know congress isn't functional, the worst case scenario is you'd get 75% of what you would have.

Oh for fucks sake! Post about this shit in another thread, not here!
Don't all speak at once lol, drop a CSB or respond to someone else's CSB
Its not rocket science to have two ongoing convos in a thread or to ignore a convo
CSB: Got some datalogs for ma tuner. Broke traction in 3rd with TC on :sneaky:
Had some mediocre chicken marsala tonight. Not real happy about it.
Having a mid meal really sucks
On the other hand, cooking your own food and it being right on the spot is a top 10 feeling in the world

It is about rule A.

I am otherwise completely fine with having multiple conversations going on at once.

Now go put another fucking shoe on your head and take a picture!
