I've been looking at c5 and c6s and thinking about that 20-35k price tag (not bad). Would make a great second car, leaving the TDI to fill the shoes of dd. I didn't realize the Z06 is so much crazier. However, a C7 Z06 is well over 120k. Need to check my lottery ticket. Tell you what, if I win then I'll lake it for a spin.

I have a 50th AE C5 manual. Corvettes are awesome cars, they're pretty affordable, reliable, look/sound cool and the speed and handling are awesome. Also, they're one of the cheapest cars to insure. They certainly have drawbacks, but are one of the few cars that check the fast, cheap and reliable boxes. I think a Z06 is a bit much for the street though, they'll scrape everywhere, be noisy and rough, more expensive...

If I were buying now I'd get an '08+ C6 with the LS3 (more power), better shifter, etc. They can be had for mid twenties these days. C5s are great if you're cheap, the interior obviously isn't a GTI's though
