My friend is thinking of plastidipping his wheels for the rest of winter. Thoughts?

IMO If you do out-of-the-ordinary colors you have to change things here and there, whether subtle or not. But like I said, that's just me. So my was plain boring silver, or gun metal.

That's my thought. We could do this in like 4 hours tops. If it looks bad? Take it off.

Way less than 4 hours. Winter sucks so why not try to have some fun when you can. The brighter and more obnoxious the colour the better. You can always peel it off.
