I live in Vegas, the summers are brutal, and I have a little one. As we all know the ac in the mkv is trash. In my 06, I've had the compressor replaced under warranty after 5 years new. Then I lived in a northern state and had used the ac a handful of times. Now after year 9 and living in the desert, the local vw shop says I need to replace it again. They have told me the compressor needs to be replaced due to a sensor in/on the compressor that has malfunctioned. Its not the compressor itself that's gone bad. The only way to replace this sensor is to replace the entire compressor. I can remember reading about these sensors going bad and there may have been a fix without replacing the entire thing but now despite all my research, I can't find the information.
1. Can the sensor be replaced aside from replacing the entire compressor?
2. Is there a better aftermarket compressor that performs better than OEM that has been developed? My wife's passat ac works like a mofo. I was just curious.
Any advice would certainly be appreciated.
