I recently picked up a nicely equipped, very, clean low mileage '07 Rabbit 2.5 5-speed for myself as a fun winter commuter. Have had lots of watercooled VW's in my past, '77 Rabbit, '82 Jetta, 86 Jetta, 85ish GTI, 92 Cabriolet, 91 G60 Corrado, plus a couple Audis, 2001 A6 2.7T and a 2006 A3. Happy to get back in a VW. I like to mod a little bit. As the title states, anyone try this? Seems like one of the largest differences (ecu aside) between the 07 and 08 engines is the intake manifold, but search as I might, I can't find reference to anyone trying this with documented results (or lack there of). I would think that if a junkyard intake and a $350 tune has the potential of 30+ more hp, someone would have tried it.
