APR Ignition Coils are designed to be a direct plug-and-play upgrade to factory coils, and provide greater energy output, ensuring a stronger and more consistent spark. The commonplace replacement of factory ignition coils with those taken from higher output Audi RS models, such as the 2.5T, is popularly believed to provide greater energy output. However, testing proves that they are no more powerful than the factory coils that are found on 1.8T and 2.0T engines. APR Ignition Coils increase energy output by 10%. They are a direct upgrade or replacement, and come with the coveted red housing made popular by the Audi R8!

Features:

  • 10% more energy output than stock
  • Red housing with APR Logo
  • True upgrade, not just aesthetic
  • Direct plug-and-play

I am debating weather or not to get them. I am APR stage 1 with intercooler.

I would only get them to replace a faulty stock coil since the price is similar to stock. If they were better then stock APR would have produced a dyno chart showing that.

I think it would be tough to show HP gains if everything is optimal. Where you may see an increase is maybe when your spark plugs are going, or when you're at the verge of spark blow out and the extra "10 percent" pushes you over the threshold. Still don't get why people are mad. If these are indeed 10 percent better than stockers, and all the other options are basically the same, these are the "ultimate ignition coil upgrade". These are surely more useful than say a stick on spoiler.

I'm not angry as you suggested. It's marketing hype that's not going to help the guy who buys them expecting better performance from his perfectly fine stock coils. If your spark plugs are going as you say or if your on the verge of spark blow out that extra 10 % will get you nothing. The stick on spoiler will gain you downforce which will be equal to the benefit of the RED coils. ?

APR isn't saying this is a real performance mod. But having usable options is never a bad thing. I'd be salty if these were more expensive than OEM, but they aren't.

Which is exactly why I said if you have a faulty stock coil get them since the price is about the same as stock. And whether or not APR is saying that it's a performance mod they are definitely implying that it is. Plus what's up with emphasizing that they are red?

because racekar bro. people have been buying red coil packs long before APR developed theirs, simply because they are red.
